Peter Saffert

University of Cologne 

Peter Saffert is a third year doctoral student at the University of Cologne, Germany. He holds a diploma (masters equivalent) in Econo-mathematics from the University of Ulm, Germany. The studies of Econo-mathematics consist of mathematics, business studies, and computer science, offering a variety of theoretical foundations. In his diploma thesis he implemented and tested spatial statistical simulation algorithms for telecommunication networks as part of a project with France Telecom.

Peter’s research interests include market-response modeling and customer relationship management. In one of his current research projects he analyses the effect of award-winning advertising campaigns on sales. In another project, which is based on a large scanner data set of a German retailer, he investigates how consumers respond to the positioning of different private label tiers and the associated marketing decisions. He has presented his research at the 2009 Marketing Science Conference.

In 2010, Peter spent several months as visiting scholar the University of Texas in Austin.
