Official Test Scores
The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is expected of all applicants. To request score reports or register for the GMAT, visit www.mba.com.
GRE may be considered on an exceptional basis. No other entrance exam (MCAT, LSAT, etc.) will be considered.
As a part of the online application, you will be asked to provide contact information for three individuals who could provide professional recommendations if contacted by the Admissions Committee during the review process. As you decide who to list, please note that we are seeking recommendations from individuals who are familiar with you from a professional setting, as opposed to personal friends or former faculty members.
The Admissions Committee will decide which recommenders will be contacted during the review process. If you wish to guarantee that the recommender’s input will be reviewed with your application, you may choose to ask your recommender to submit an online recommendation form on your behalf using the recommendation tool provided in the online application. Please note that paper recommendations or letters will not be accepted.
As a part of the application, you will be required to upload a copy of your transcripts from your degree-issuing university and from any university at which you completed graduate-level course work. These documents will be used in the admission review process. If you are admitted, official transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities will be required. We reserve the right to rescind an offer of admission should any misrepresentation occur.
Credentials presented in a language other than English must be submitted with a certified English translation. For transcripts from colleges or universities outside the U.S., an evaluation from a professional evaluation agency within the U.S. may be requested.

What kind of student is right for the Neeley School of Business at TCU?

How does the Neeley School evaluate applications?
The admissions committee will review your entire application. First, we look to determine that you have the academic ability to handle challenging, graduate-level academic work. In addition to your undergraduate transcript and your GMAT scores, we look for a history of setting and achieving challenging goals in every aspect of your life. Your professionalism also is reflected in your application presentation and interview.
When can students start the program?
The Neeley School admits students for fall admission only.
How will I be notified of the admission decision?
Decisions are announced by mail.
Do I need to send all the materials together as one package?
No. While the application will not be reviewed for admission until all of the materials are received, you can begin sending application materials as they are completed.
Is a business major or certain business classes required?
Prior business study is not required for the Full-time or Professional MBA programs. In fact, more than half of our students come from non-business backgrounds. The condensed format of the Accelerated MBA, however, does necessitate that participants in that program hold a BBA degree from a university accredited by the AACSB. Are there specific course prerequisites?
Admitted students are expected to have an understanding of basic mathematics, such as basic algebraic operations, relations and functions, exponents, logarithms, sets and functions, linear equations, differentiation, integration, slope, and extrema. Typically, this requirement is satisfied by the completion of college algebra or business quantitative methods with a grade of “C” or better.
What is the minimum GPA required?
There is no single GPA requirement that will guarantee admission. The GPA range of admitted students is very broad. To be viable candidates, applicants who did not perform well in their undergraduate academic career would be expected to show ability through GMAT and motivation through professional success.
How should I send my transcripts to TCU?

Are letters of recommendation required?
No. Applicants are no longer required to provide letters of recommendation. Instead, within the application you will be asked to provide contact information for three individuals who could provide professional recommendations if the Admissions Committee chooses to contact them during the review process.
Who should I ask to serve as my recommenders?
The recommenders you list should be individuals who are familiar with you from a professional setting, as opposed to personal friends or former faculty members. The most valuable recommendations come from individuals who have first-hand knowledge of your professional development and can assess directly your management potential. Whenever possible, you should include your direct supervisor in the list.
Is there a way to provide recommendations if I choose to do so?
If you wish to guarantee that the recommender’s input will be reviewed with your application, you may choose to ask your recommender to submit an online recommendation form on your behalf. Can general letters be used, or do the recommendations have to be on the TCU form?

Is the GMAT required for admission?
Yes. While it is only one part of the application, it is required before an admission decision can be made.
If I already have an advanced degree, will the GMAT be required?
Yes, although we will consider GRE in lieu of GMAT on an exception basis, but not LSAT, MCAT, etc.
May I substitute the GRE for GMAT?

May I start the program and later submit the GMAT?
No. The GMAT is a part of the admission decision.
What is the minimum GMAT score you accept?
There is no single GMAT requirement that will guarantee admission. The GMAT range of admitted students is broad, typically from 500 to mid-700s. Two candidates with the same GMAT score might have different admission outcomes because of their past academic record, work experience, performance in the interview, etc.

If I take the GMAT more than once, which scores do you consider?
We take your highest score.
Why is a resume requested?
We ask that you list your past jobs on the application, but the resume gives you the opportunity to communicate the nature of the positions and your major professional accomplishment.
How much work experience is required?
There is no specified minimum; however, most students fall into the 2-10 year range. The average for the Full-time MBA program is typically about 4-5 years, and 5-7 years for the Professional MBA.
The Accelerated MBA Option does have a minimum of at least three years of postgraduate professional or military experience.
I am about to graduate from college now? What are my chances for admission?
Only a handful (5% or fewer) of the students in the Full-time MBA Program are admitted directly from college. These students have usually demonstrated exceptional academic ability through test scores and past grades, and have held meaningful internship and part-time work experiences.
Is an interview required?
Admission interviews are required for admission, but not all applicants will be invited to interview. After a preliminary review of the application, the Admissions Committee may request an evaluative admission interview. If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted via e-mail or phone.

What additional requirements do you have for international candidates?

What about a financial statement?
The financial statement is not required with the application for admission, but must be submitted before the Certificate of Eligibility (I-20 or IAP 66) needed for the student visa will be issued. Upon admission, candidates will be asked to provide a financial statement.
Are all international students required to take a test of English language proficiency?
An approved standardized test of English language proficiency is required of all non-native English speakers, with the exception of applicants who:
- Applicants who have spent at least 3 years in the U.S. studying toward completion of an undergraduate degree, OR
- Applicants who have completed a graduate degree in the U.S. or worked in the U.S.
at least 2 years OR
- Applicants who hold an undergraduate degree from an institution in which English is the language of instruction and commerce in their country is generally conducted in English. (Examples of such countries include: Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Ghana, Nigeria and Uganda.)
Which tests of English language do you accept?
TCU MBA will accept the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), PTE (Pearson Test of English), or IELTS (International English Language Training System).
What is the minimum English language test score you accept?
The minimum TOEFL scores required for admission are:

The minimum PTE score is 68.
The minimum IELTS score is 7.
In general, our admitted students score higher than the minimum scores required for admission. Neeley MBA students must be able to easily converse in English, work with teams and company representatives, as well as quickly read and comprehend a great deal of written material.

If the transcript is issued in another language, it must be accompanied by a certified English translation. If our staff is not familiar with the type of degree or the issuing university, you may also be asked to submit a professional evaluation of the transcript. If requested, the evaluation should be completed by a professional evaluation agency in the U.S.

What are your undergraduate degree requirements?
A four-year undergraduate degree is required – the equivalent of 16 years of formal education. Typically our Indian applicants who hold a three-year bachelor's degree will have completed at least one year of additional study in a master’s program or a post bachelors certificate program.
Can international students receive financial aid or scholarships?
Yes, you can be considered for our merit-based scholarship and graduate assistantships. These awards are made on a competitive basis considering the credentials presented in your applications. Loans and grants based on financial needs are subsidized by the U.S. federal government and are therefore typically reserved for U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
