Career-related Trips

Hit the road — and get your foot in the door

Tell us where you want to go. TCU’s career services will help you get there.

Here’s how: Members of TCU’s student organizations pinpoint a set of companies that they want to target for internships or future employment. The experts in the Neeley Graduate Career Services Center take it from there: scheduling meetings with corporate execs, arranging tours of facilities, setting up networking opportunities in the targeted industries and reaching out to TCU alumni in the area.

You’ll attend on-site info presentations to learn about the companies, meet with business leaders and sometimes even participate in mock interviews. But it’s much more than a field trip because you log valuable face time with hiring managers and get the scoop on how to position yourself from alumni.

Whether you travel to Chicago, Austin, Houston, New York City or somewhere else, you’ll walk away with detailed knowledge of specific companies — and a set of leads to help you crack the job market.

“The career services staff can post jobs and meet with companies, but that’s like being a traveling salesman but not having a product with you,” said LaTanya Johns, director of the Neeley Graduate Career Services Center. “But when we have our students with us for face-to-face time during these trips, all the companies are impressed.”
