I
nside the Mind of Vassil Mihov, Associate Professor of Finance
What brought you to TCU?
The people, without a doubt. I have outstanding colleagues
here, I love interacting with our students, and our staff
members are indispensible. I like the academic atmosphere at
TCU, the sense of community and citizenship.
I like the aspirations that the Neeley School has for the
future and hope that I am making a meaningful contribution in
fulfilling those.
What do you enjoy most about teaching?
My students, of course. Teaching is easily the most enjoyable
part of my job. Teaching provides me with the unique
opportunity to make a difference in someone's life. My students
are very motivated and like being challenged. There is no
greater professional reward than to hear back from my students
and to learn that they benefitted from my courses.
Once, I was on the phone with an American Airlines customer
service representative. At the end of our conversation, to my
utter surprise, he said: "By the way, Dr. Mihov, you were my
Finance professor at TCU three years ago," and thanked me for
the experience. Moments like this make my professional life
truly meaningful.
What is one thing most people don't know about you?
At TCU football games, they have a cameraman who goes around
the audience and finds couples in the stands. Then they urge
those couples to kiss and they show them on the giant screen in
the end zone. So my girlfriend and I were recently on the
"kiss-cam" at a TCU football game at the Amon Carter Stadium in
front of 30,000 or so people in attendance.
