Dr. Morgan Swink Named Distinguished Scholar by Academy of Management

Swink MorganDr.Morgan Swink, Executive Director of the Supply and Value Chain Center at the Neeley School of Business at TCU, was named the 2011 Distinguished Scholar by the Operations Management division of the Academy of Management at the annual meeting in August. 

The award from the Operations Management Division of the Academy of Management honors a professor chosen from business schools around the world who is dedicated to shaping and leading the field of operations management. Dr. Swink is the first recipient from a Texas university. 

“I have been both professionally and personally enriched by my association with the Academy of Management, so it is truly an honor to be recognized in this way by its members,” he said.

Dr. Swink was cited for his research, his leadership as co-editor of the Journal of Operations Management, and for his role as Executive Director of the Supply and Value Chain Center. Dr. Swink joined the Neeley School in 2010 as the James L. and Eunice West Chair in Supply Chain Management. Hisresearch includes supply chain innovation, operations strategy, and supply chain systems. 

“The OM division of the Academy of Management has a long and rich history of promoting and supporting top research,” Dr. Swink said. 

The Distinguished Scholar award honors scholars who focus on an empirical, holistic approach to researching operations management issues. The award recognizes excellence and commitment to service, both in the Operations Management field as a whole and within the Academy of Management. Dr. Swink is the first recipient from a Texas university.

The Supply Chain Management program at the Neeley School is ranked No. 19 in the nation by Gartner and No. 21 in the nation by Bloomberg Businessweek.
