Matthew Lundborg Receives Student Leadership Scholarship

Matthew Lundborg, a marketing major at the Neeley School of Business at TCU, has been selected to receive the Mosebrook/Pfizer Student Leader Award, a $5,000 scholarship awarded annually to the Neeley student who exemplifies integrity, stewardship, responsibility, excellence and purpose.

Lundborg has a 3.73 GPA and is a member of the BNSF Next Generation Leadership Program and the Collegiate Entrepreneurial Organization at Neeley. He is also senior vice president, vice president of alumni relations and social chair for Delta Sigma Pi, and a member of the TCU Wind Symphony, Jazz Ensemble and Marching Band. He has appeared on the Dean's Honor List since 2004.

In his winning essay, Lundborg discussed how his first summer job with the non-profit Group Workcamps Foundation helped him perfect his paradigm regarding leadership. Lundborg and three other college students ran four camps along the 8,000-mile eastern coast of the U.S. He was well aware of how to lead and get good performances out of people. But his third summer with the organization helped him realize that helping others realize their potential was a major component of being a great leader.

"I've made it a point to develop skills and abilities that will make me more able to help those around me to reach their full potential," he said. "I feel fortunate to have realized that leadership is not only about managing other and tasks, it is about developing those around you. I'm very excited to see where this discovery will take me in life, professionally and personally."

Along with the cash scholarship, Lundborg will have the opportunity to meet with representatives of Pfizer Inc. and the Mosebrook family.
