Robert Boatler Named 2012 Neeley Alumni Professor of the Year

Boatler BobAssociate Professor of Finance Robert Boatler has been chosen as Neeley Alumni Professor of the Year for 2012. Boatler came to TCU in 1977 and is an expert in money and banking, international finance, managerial macroeconomics, monetary theory and international business. He holds a PhD from Cornell University and BA from the University of Texas. Boatler has lived in France, Germany, Spain and Mexico. He travels extensively, both for the Neeley School and for his own recreation, and is fluent in French, German, Spanish and Portuguese.

As Neeley Alumni Professor of the Year, Boatler will speak at Neeley alumni events around the country throughout the 2012-13 school year.

Former student Kabir Sawhney, manager of advisory services at Ernst & Young, recalls that his classes with Boatler were some of the most interesting he had at Neeley.

“Because he has traveled extensively throughout the world and speaks different languages, the perspective that he brought to class from an international standpoint was priceless,” Kabir said. “His domestic perspective on the banking industry was just as valuable. He is a very well-read man, very knowledgeable. He is a great professor and definitely deserves this award.”

Neeley alumni began the Alumni Professor of the Year award in 2006 to honor outstanding faculty. Previous recipients of the honor include Joe Lipscomb, Bob Vigeland, Bill Moncrief, Rob Rhodes, Chris Barry and Larry Lockwood.
