TCU Business Student Wins Global Student Entrepreneur Award

Adam Blake honored at Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization Conference in Orlando

FORT WORTH, Texas (November 3, 2005)   - TCU's Neeley School of Business entrepreneurship program announced today that Adam Blake has been named the winner of the 2005 Global Student Entrepreneur Awards competition. The honor, which is sponsored by the Entrepreneur Center of St. Louis University, Missouri, is bestowed upon the top collegiate entrepreneur chosen from 18 U.S. and international regions. 

 "The Neeley School of Business is proud to see Adam recognized for his business achievements," said David Minor, director of the Neeley entrepreneurship program at TCU.  "It is certainly an honor to see one of our own making such an impact. Adam is an excellent example of the type of innovative, talented students we hope to attract to our entrepreneurship program."

Blake, a junior entrepreneurial management and finance major, has been running his businesses, B&B Acquisitions and Blake Venture Corp. while attending school full-time. He won first place in the Global Student EntrepreneurSM Awards competition and received a check for $10,000 for his business' profitability, social responsibility, innovative approach, and all-around success and ethics in practice. "I'm extremely pleased to have received this award," says Blake. "The level of expertise and achievement of the entrepreneurial students in the competition makes the honor particularly gratifying to me."

B&B Acquisitions is a real estate company that Blake began as a college freshman by purchasing and renting property to college students, and has since expanded to property management, buying and selling for short-term gains, and commercial real estate investment and development. B&B Acquisitions/ Blake Venture Corp. currently owns and manages an investment portfolio worth nearly $3 million that contains real property, stocks, and options. Blake hopes to ultimately turn his newest business, Blake Venture Corp., into a real estate investment trust.

The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards competition is a two-tiered awards program that recognizes the entrepreneurial efforts of undergraduate students from all over the world. The program's mission is to inspire students to adopt entrepreneurial endeavors by bringing global visibility to undergraduate business owners whose companies adhere to high ethical standards and are innovative, profitable, and socially responsible.
