The Texas Business Hall of Fame chooses outstanding students from across Texas to award scholarships for perpetuating and inspiring the values of entrepreneurial spirit, personal integrity and community leadership.

Sarah Mitchell was chosen as the recipient from the TCU Neeley School of Business for 2018. A member of the Entrepreneurship Club at TCU, Mitchell is the founder of Cake Buds in Bloom, bouquets of cupcakes that look like flowers. Mitchell was honored at the 2018 Texas Business Hall of Fame induction dinner.

“I am thankful for the support and education from the TCU Neeley Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, TCU alumni and my family,” Mitchell said. “I look forward to one day giving back as much as I have been given. I want to make a positive business impact at TCU, in Fort Worth and in Texas. I am continually inspired by companies like Winton & Waits, The Worthy Co., and others that are making a difference in the community.”

Michael Sherrod, the William M. Dickey Entrepreneur-in-Residence at TCU Neeley, accompanied Mitchell to the awards ceremony.

“Sarah is an exceptional person and a determined entrepreneur,” Sherrod said. “Part of the award process acknowledges that these scholarship winners might one day be Texas Business Hall of Fame Legends themselves. For Sarah, I believe that honor will come sooner rather than later.”

Among past TCU honorees are Amenemope McKinney MBA ‘18, Matt Matuszak ’17, Gabe Williams MBA ’14, Anneke Talsma MBA ’13, Ben Voigt ’11, Justin Anderson ’09 and Tim Bates MBA ’03.
